I built my kids a treehouse!
It all started when my kids started begging for a treehouse. I wasn't sure how to get it properly built with all the legal red tape and neighbourhood regulations, so I contacted local builders and was quoted anywhere from $8000-20000. I wanted to do something better than that, so I used Google Sketchup and made my own plans. It cost about $4000 in materials, about 30 hours of drafting time plus 20 hours of actually building the thing.

| I built my kids a treehouse! |
My kids always loved trees and visiting them in the woods. So, I decided to build my kids a treehouse as a surprise! My wife was shocked when we brought it home. And she's still trying to get used to it now that they are in middle school. For now, they can enjoy the room above our garage - but just wait until they're old enough for a big playroom! In the meantime, this might be the ideal place for you and your family to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It's an enclosed space with lots of windows where you can feel like you're "outside".
My kids and I were always playing in the backyard, climbing trees, and looking for adventure. But we weren’t satisfied with just that anymore.
We wanted to build something together.
A place where we could explore the world, create our own stories, and have a fantastic time doing it. So I set up some sawhorses and a power drill - because there are no treehouses without power tools! - and went to work with my kids next to me every step of the way. We sketched out ideas on paper first, then came up with our design over ice cream at my favourite vegan yoghurt bar downtown where we live (true story).
